The highest concentrations of retail businesses and services can be found in downtown Farmville, downtown Emporia, outside the Town of South Hill, and on the "golden mile" - U. S. Route 58 east at the I-85 interchange. For a change from the large retail mall and service centers, the region offers its full share of traditional "Main Street" downtown districts in the towns of Chase City, Victoria, Keysville, and Kenbridge to name a few. These areas offer a personal shopping experience through locally owned specialty hardware, clothing, book, art, crafts, and antique shops as well as cafes, bistros and other eating places.
