The Commonwealth of Virginia is planning an addition and renovations to the Virginia Center for Behavioral Rehabilitation (VCBR) in Nottoway County. This expansion will provide residential and treatment space for an additional 183 residents, with the ability to expand to serve another 75 individuals. Construction is estimated to cost approximately $80 million. This project is in the detailed design phase and was presented
to the General Assembly for funding consideration in January, 2016. Should funding be received, construction would start in the spring of 2017 and be completed late fall 2019. During this meeting, representatives from the Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Services and the Virginia Center for Behavioral Rehabilitation provided e a presentation on the expansion.
