In addition to Interstates, major highways in VGA are US 58, which runs the full width of the state, and US 360. A number of other major highways are easy connections, including US 460, 501, 220, and 29.

CSX provides rail service to the region and has 21,000 miles of track, access to 70 ports, and nationwide transloading and distribution services. VGA's MAMaC megasite offers direct access to the CSX main line via an on-site rail spur. Norfolk Southern Corporation also runs east-west service nearby, and CSX and Norfolk Southern have an inter-rail transfer point within 45 miles of VGA.

The Port of Virginia, is the deepest harbor on the U.S. East Coast and the third largest container port on the US East Coast. It's about an hour East and easily accessible via highway or rail. The Port of Richmond is a multimodal freight and distribution center located about 60 miles north along interstate I-95.

Air transportation is also readily available. The VGA region has direct access to three international airports located in Richmond, Norfolk, and Raleigh-Durham. Five general aviation airports are located in the region.
