New Jobs and Investment in Greensville County The Greensville County Board of Supervisors welcomes CIMC Intermodal Equipment, an American division of the China International Marine Containers family, the largest builder of shipping containers and chassis in the world to the Greensville County Industrial Park. CIMC Intermodal Equipment, with corporate offices in California, will make significant investments to expand its chassis assembly production from South Gate, California to the Greensville County Industrial Park.

The new operations renovations are currently under way in the former Quality Culvert facility and will create an estimated 40 new jobs as the operation matures.

Peggy Wiley, Chair of the Board of Supervisors, said, “CIMC Intermodal Equipment is a significant employer in Greensville County, and their investment and new job creation is a win for the region as it continues to bounce back from the economic dive in recent years. The company will be putting people back to work and helping to diversify the industry base, both of which are critical for Greensville County to continue to grow.”

CIMC Vehicles, a publically traded company, has multiple production facilities globally in the United States, Europe, Australia, Thailand, Vietnam and China. Annual global production capacity is approximately 200,000 wheeled-transportation units. CIMC builds first-class intermodal and transportation equipment in the global market. The new facility in Greensville County will provide the gateway for the east coast market and a production, repair and assembly point for CIMC equipment along with chassis and container parts sales for their domestic customers. The company has provided tens of thousands of chassis to the US intermodal market customers consistently with quality and durable design.

CEO O.H. Buzz Hagen has appointed Mr. Jim Connell, the companies Vice President of Engineering Process’s, as oversight manager for the project. Other management team members will be hired from the local available labor pool, along with numerous employees with skill sets from parts, fork lift drivers, yard truck drivers, assembly persons and office staffing. Hagen stated the company is pleased and excited about the venture in Greensville County and optimistically has expressed expectations on growing future expansions in this facility.

The new facility will serve as the primary location for chassis production focused on utilizing the Port of Norfolk Virginia for component shipment all of which require additional US supplied parts with assembly to be completed in the new operation. Chassis final assembly and acquisition of USA manufactured components to complete assembly will take place at this facility and completed chassis will be delivered or picked up by USA and regional customers.
